Dan & Marnie Whitehead along with their two daughters are from Burnsville, MN.  They came to Otter Tail county in 1998 when they purchased vacation property on East Leaf Lake.  The family spent many weekends throughout the years building their cabin, fishing & swimming on the lake & attending many events hosted by their favorite shop, The Williams Company Store in Ottertail.  The family always talked about how fun it would be to live "Up North" and own a small business like The Williams Company Store.    

As you know, life has a way of changing when you least expect it.  This was the case with the family in 2010 when Dan & Marnie experienced some unexpected job changes causing them to rethink the course of their future.  Ultimately, they decided they wanted to leave their jobs in the Twin Cities, move the family to Ottertail and buy a business.  This decision took three years of research and planning and resulted in buying The Williams Company Store & Deli in January 2014.

The move "Up North" has proven to be a dream come true!  Dan & Marnie love living in Ottertail!  Members of the community have been very welcoming and encouraging; particularly by inviting the couple to become Ottertail Lions Club members and Ottertail Business & Community Association members.  Working alongside community members and volunteering for different events has been a wonderful way of getting to know community members.
